Tucked away in the heart of Winchcombe, Fern Cottage is a beautifully restored, Grade II listed Cotswold cottage with bags of character, thoughtfully considered interiors and a rather lovely surprise waiting at the bottom of the garden.

Sleeping up to four guests, although we recommend a maximum of three adults, this two-bedroom hideaway is made for slow mornings, spontaneous adventures and evenings spent doing very little at all.

Step inside and you’ll find everything you love about a traditional Cotswold cottage. Honey-coloured stone walls, flagstone floors and a cosy fireplace, all brought together with beautiful contemporary design and those thoughtful little touches that make somewhere feel instantly like home.

Out front, a charming stable door opens onto the streets of historic Winchcombe, where independent shops, bakeries, cafés and welcoming pubs are just a short stroll away. Fancy a coffee and a fresh pastry in the morning? No need to get in the car.

But head out the back and it’s a completely different story. A peaceful private garden stretches down towards the River Isbourne, offering a lovely little escape from the bustle of everyday life. Take your morning coffee outside, find a quiet spot with a book or simply sit back and enjoy the slower pace.

And when you’re ready to explore, some of the Cotswolds’ loveliest walks, villages and countryside are right on your doorstep.‍

Fern Cottage is the kind of place that makes slowing downfeel wonderfully easy. Sleeping up to four guests, although we recommend amaximum of three adults, this beautifully styled two-bedroom cottage is idealfor couples, close friends or a small family looking to enjoy the Cotswolds attheir own pace.

There’s plenty to discover beyond the front door, butequally good reasons to stay exactly where you are.‍

Cosy corners and slow mornings‍

Step inside and you’ll find a cottage full of warmth,character and thoughtful design. The cosy living room, with its exposed stonewalls and welcoming fireplace, is made for putting your feet up after a dayexploring. Think good books, a glass of something lovely and absolutely noplans for the evening.

At the back of the cottage, a bright, open-plan kitchenand dining area offers a lovely space to cook, eat and spend time together.Throw open the double doors to the garden on warmer days and enjoy long, lazybreakfasts, leisurely lunches or an evening drink as the sun goes down.

A garden with a little something extra

‍One of Fern Cottage’s loveliest surprises is waitingjust beyond the back door.

The long, private, fully enclosed garden feels a worldaway from the town, despite being right in its centre. Find a sunny spot withyour morning coffee, settle in with a book or simply enjoy having nowhere elseyou need to be.

Wander down towards the bottom and you’ll discover theRiver Isbourne flowing gently past, with beautiful views towards Stanway Hillbeyond. It’s a wonderfully peaceful setting and one of those little detailsthat makes Fern Cottage feel so special.

There’s also a private parking space at the rear of thecottage, a welcome bonus when you’re staying in the heart of a historic markettown.

Two bedrooms. Your own little retreat.‍

Upstairs, you’ll find two beautifully styled bedrooms,each with its own personality and plenty of comfort.‍

The master bedroom: At the front of the cottage, thisspacious room features a super king-size bed, high ceilings and calmingbotanical green tones. A lovely place to retreat to at the end of the day.‍

The second bedroom: Overlooking the peaceful rear garden,this cosy double bedroom is a welcoming space for friends, family or anyone whoenjoys waking up to a little greenery.

There’s also a contemporary family shower room, completewith a generous double walk-in monsoon shower and luxury toiletries for alittle everyday indulgence.‍

A little heads-up: Like many historic Cotswold cottages,Fern has some charming quirks, including a fairly steep staircase and uneven,hard stone floors. For this reason, it’s best suited to guests who arecomfortable with stairs and isn’t recommended for infants or toddlers. We donot provide highchairs, stair gates or travel cots for this property as a result.
