Tucked away in the peaceful hamlet of Ford, Stable Cottage is the perfect base for a foodie and explorer’s weekend. Here’s how we’d recommend spending 48 hours soaking up the very best of the Cotswolds.

Day One: Arrival & Settling In

Afternoon Arrival at Stable Cottage

Arrive in the quiet hamlet of Ford and settle into your cosy retreat. Unpack, light the fire, and ease into Cotswold life.

Evening: Supper at The Plough Inn, Ford

No need to travel far for your first evening: the Plough Inn is just steps from your cottage. This picture-perfect country pub serves hearty, seasonal food and is renowned for its warm, welcoming atmosphere. A pint of local ale by the fire is the perfect start to your stay.

Day Two: Walks, Villages & Foodie Highlights

Morning in Broadway & Broadway Tower

After a leisurely breakfast, head 10 minutes up the road to Broadway, often called the 'Jewel of the Cotswolds.' Stroll its elegant high street, lined with independent shops, delis, and galleries. From here, take the scenic walk up to Broadway Tower, a hilltop folly with panoramic views across 16 counties on a clear day.

Lunch at Russell’s of Broadway

For a refined lunch, book a table at Russell’s of Broadway, known for its seasonal menus and beautifully presented dishes.

Afternoon in Chipping Campden via Snowshill, Stanton & Stanway

Drive just 15 minutes to Chipping Campden, famed for its golden stone high street and arts-and-crafts heritage. Wander the historic market hall, browse antique shops, and soak up the charm of this quintessential Cotswold town. For a longer, more scenic route, pass through the villages of Snowsill, Stanton & Stanway on your way.

Evening Dinner at The Ebrington Arms

Head to The Ebrington Arms, one of the Cotswolds’ most celebrated pubs. Expect award-winning food, creative menus, and plenty of atmosphere. Return to Stable Cottage for a nightcap by the fire.

Day Three: Countryside Strolls & Foodie Farewells

Morning in Winchcombe & Sudeley Castle Walk

After breakfast, drive 10 minutes to Winchcombe, a historic town brimming with character. From here, follow a circular walk around the grounds of Sudeley Castle, taking in rolling countryside, pretty cottages, and medieval history.

Lunch at The Feathered Nest or Daylesford Farm Shop

For your final foodie experience, you’ve got options: Drive to Daylesford Organic Farm Shop (30 minutes) for a stylish farm-to-fork lunch and to stock up on artisan treats to take home. Or, if you’d like to linger somewhere a little longer, book a table at The Feathered Nest in Nether Westcote, a award winning pub-restaurant with sweeping countryside views and an excellent reputation.

Testimonials

What our guests have said

“We had a lovely stay at Charlotte's. My husband and I travelled with our 2 year old and my mum and it was the perfect layout for us. Being close to the shops and restaurants made it easy to explore and there are lot of local kid-friendly attractions a short drive away. We'll be returning for sure!"

Parsons Barn

“This was a lovely property for a chilled weekend with my friends. We were really impressed with how well stocked the kitchen was as it meant we could cook a nice dinner with ease. We loved the location as there was a pub a few steps away and was in short driving distance to lots of attractions like Daylesford. My dog particularly enjoyed the walking routes from the town that took him to big fields to play fetch!”

Cotswold Cottage

“The perfect get-away for our family holiday in the perfect place. The house is located right in the centre of Stow on the Wold so all the gorgeous pubs and shops are just a stones throw away. The house was immaculate and had so many facilities. All rooms were a generous size and beds super comfy. The hosts even allowed us to check in a few hours early and we arrived to a fresh loaf of bread and milk in the fridge. 10/10 the perfect stay.”
